HH Sheikha Moza attends 2019 WISE Awards session


Doha, Qatar, 20 November 2019

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), attended on Wednesday evening the presentation session of the winning projects of the 2019 WISE Awards, in the framework of the ninth edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE 2019) which is taking place in Qatar National Convention Center over two days.

The session, which was attended by HE Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, HE the First Lady of Paraguay Silvana Lopez Moreira and a number of QF officials, celebrated the six innovative educational projects that have successfully addressed a range of global education challenges.

Director of the Research Department at WISE Dr. Asmaa Al Fadala presented the awards to the winning projects which were selected out of 15 projects nominated from 481 projects submitted for the awards.

The winning projects for the 2019 WISE Awards are Family Business for Education Foundation from the United Kingdom; The United World Schools which are operating in Nepal, Myanmar and Cambodia; the Micro:bit Educational Foundation; the Project Happy Child from Brazil; Arpan's Personal Safety Education Program from India; and Akilah Institute from Rwanda.

The projects tackle a number of pressing issues including innovative ways of financing education, providing access to education in remote areas, promoting coding education, providing early childhood programs based on cognitive science, enhancing children's safety to eliminate physical abuse, and providing practical skills-based education.
