HH Sheikha Moza speaks at WISE session on education, violence and armed conflict

Doha, Qatar, 05 November 2015

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), stressed the necessity to tackle violence in the world and fighting it by all possible means starting with media, calling for treating victims and injuries not as numbers and statistics because this practice normalizes violence, but rather as human stories for human beings who should be sympathized with.

HH made the remarks as she spoke on Thursday during a plenary session under the theme of "Education, Violence and Armed Conflict – From Daunting Challenge to Effective Response" that was organized by Education Above All at Qatar National Convention Center as part of the seventh edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE).

HH Sheikha Moza expressed deep anger and outrage at the violations against children's right to education and the targeting of schools, learners and scholars, stressing the need to move quickly to avoid that violence.

She called for finding a cure for violence while stressing the principles of accountability, punishment and reparation, noting that the international family might be not interested in questioning culprits, especially if they were from powerful countries.

HH Sheikha Moza added that international laws, and laws on human, children and women rights will not be implemented unless the principle of accountability and punishment is to be established, noting that the international society must be more practical even if it imposes financial reparations on offenders so as to deter them even though this would be the least way to achieve justice.
