​SEC Education Excellence Day 2012


Doha, Qatar, 05 March 2012

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent and Chairman of the Supreme Education Council and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser today attended the Award Ceremony of the Education Excellence Day 2012, which was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
 
At the ceremony, held annually under the patronage of His Highness the Heir Apparent to honour Qatari academic excellence, 28 awards were given – 25 to students, two to schools and one to a teacher.  Of the 25 outstanding students, 18 were general secondary graduates, 4 were university graduates, two were doctorates and one student won the award for Research Excellence.

Their Highnesses His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser met with the Education Excellence Award winners after the ceremony to personally congratulate them and to hear more about their fields of study and their plans for the future. 

The celebration of the Education Excellence Day was attended by a number of distinguished guests including HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and HE Mr. Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education. Various heads of universities, educational leaders, school administrators, teachers and parents were also present to celebrate the achievements of the group who received the State of Qatar’s most prestigious award given to distinguished academic achievers.
