HH Sheikha Moza visits King Abdullah University of Science and Technology

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, wife of H.H. the Emir of Qatar and Chairperson of Qatar foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Jeddah Tuesday.

Her Highness and her accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival by the University President Professor Choon Fong Shih and Senior Vice President for Economic and Technology Development Mohamed Samaha.

At the outset of the visit Her Highness met with KAUST President and faculty deans.

She recommended the formation of a working team to follow up cooperation between educational institutions in Qatar and the KAUST mainly in the areas of the exchange of expertise as well as educational and technical programs.

Professor Shih briefed Her Highness on the academic and research aspects, the different disciplines and post graduate programs in basic and applied sciences, means to develop and diversify the University's research capacity, and the research centers plan to pursue the development of strategic research related to human needs, social progress and economic development of the Kingdom.

After the meeting, Her Highness toured the University campus where she visited the research centres and academic sections, including geology, bioscience, engineering, physical and chemical sections where she was also briefed on their academic programs, scientific studies, laboratories and major facilities.
