Her Highness has long spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives in education, health, culture and youth development in Qatar and internationally. Married to His Highness The Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Amir of Qatar, she worked closely with her husband during his successful leadership of the nation. She believes in progress and innovation, embedded on a foundation of culture and heritage.

Moza bint Nasser

Passionate about education and social development, Her Highness co-founded Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) in 1995. Its flagship project, Education City, houses branch campuses of renowned international universities and institutions and engages in numerous scientific research and economic and social development projects. She launched “Silatech” in 2008, to address the challenge of youth unemployment in the Middle East, North Africa, and Education Above All (EAA) in 2012, aiming to deliver quality education to the hardest to reach children and generate a global movement with a particular focus on areas affected by poverty, conflict and disaster. Having worked closely with the UN for several years, she advocated for the establishment of 9 September as the UN International Day to Protect Education from Attack and continues to work with the UN to support global education and other key areas of development for marginalized children and youth. She is one of the UN’s 17 high-profile SDG Advocates.

Alongside education, Her Highness believes healthcare is a cornerstone of equitable society. Through the years, she has established many projects and facilities to improve life for those marginalized by disability or circumstance. She is the visionary behind the World Innovation Summit for Health and the World Innovation Summit for Education, held in Doha in alternating years. She chairs Sidra Medicine, a leading research hospital specializing in the treatment of women and children and has long advocated for children with special needs, particularly autism (she was instrumental in the foundation of World Autism Day) and supports research into diabetes and genetic disorders. She launched the Doha International Family Institute, with its aim to strengthen the Arab family through research, policy, outreach and advocacy.  
 

A champion of Arabic culture and heritage, Her Highness supports the Arabic language and its use within her many programs. Her flagship property project, Msheireb, incorporates traditional design and sustainability in a large-scale urban development in central Doha. In January 2024, she established the Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women, offering religious, developmental and social programming to Muslim women to study, communicate and worship together.

Her Highness holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy in Islam from Hamad bin Khalifa University and a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Qatar University. Her many honours include the Georgetown University President’s Medal, the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, the George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service and the Chatham House Award for her contribution to improving international relations. In 2007 she was inducted into the Academie des Beaux Arts de l’Institut de France.
